A slippery slope is an argument that suggests that a certain initial action could lead to a chain of events with a relatively extreme result, or that if we treat one case a certain way then we will have to treat more extreme cases the same way too. Spend your time doing another world quest, this one isn't worth the frustration. They either need to improve the steering, reduce the traps, or slow the yeti down. In it's current form, it's much too difficult.EDIT. they actually nerfed it already. This comment is now out of date. This is now a joke. instead of auto failing if you hit a single mound. you can hit 2 and yeti still not even in sight. Some of you saying it's super easy, probably never saw original version. It's up again today and it's not even remotely same quest it was 13 days ago.

Today I tried to do this but I seem to randomly slow down, without even being near a snowpile.Comment by DarkDei7
Tried this few times today. Started by mouse turning and failed even thought I was pretty sure I dodged the snow traps. Then I gave it a shot with keyboard turning. Easy life.TL:DR : use keyboard to turn, and you'll get it done lightspeed!

Slippery Slopes's name is a reference to the logical argument of similar name. The quest itself is a reference to the old PC game SkiFree, a simple game in which the player controls a skier avoiding obstacles on a mountain slope. It is often remembered for its Abominable Snow Monster, which pursues the player after they finish a full run, similar to the Yeti that will pursue you in this quest.

Other players penguins can also be clicked on to begin sledding, so if you can click on a penguin being ridden down the slope you'll get your own penguin and start the race from where you were, not the starting line, and it seems like the yeti spawns at the top of the mountainComment by doloxeneqt
I tried it and failed miserably as long as I tried to stay on the course. But when I started recklessly bumping on the rocks on the sides, I spent more time in the air and less time on the ground. So, didn't have to navigate the slowdown stuff on the ground. Aim for the sides and specificcally the rocks on the ground to make long jumps. Happy sliding!Comment by RevengeV
If your having an issue with the yeti spawning immediately in your path as soon as you start the WQ: Make sure that you are facing down the mountain when you click on the penguin. For some reason facing away from the slope while clicking on the penguin causes it to spawn dead center in the middle of the path at the start of the race causing you to immediately get caught.Comment by BubbleTria
Not sure if they have fixed this or something looking at the other comments but I had no problems completing this using the mouse. Tried using WSAD or the arrow keys and failed, but completed it first try with the mouse. I suppose it just depends on your reaction times.Comment by Nachoslayer
The yeti has a tendency to spawn right in front of you, the slopes have bad hit detection and the game gives you no room to practice. This WQ needs some improvements for it to be a fun WQ, but for now I'd advise people to skip it unless the reward is worth it. The advise of using your keyboard is a great one, but I stil find that the game needs to give room for failure.Edit: seems it's changed, happy slipping!

Super easy! One shot it. Whatever issue there was maybe they fixed it. No problems gliding down using my mouse.Comment by Deathmuse
A lot easier if you zoom the camera in all the way and turn with the mouse.Comment by Dreamslave
this quest is garbage. the hitbox on the snow piles is over TWICE the size of the snowpiles themselves, so even if you blatantly avoid them, you get slowed and failed.Comment by SkyLynx4
The music for this quest is absolutely amazing. Gives off the old school adventurous vibe of John Williams or Alan Silvestri.Comment by bbrett786
What worked for me was zooming the camera out as far as possible and changing the camera following style in the interface menu to only horizontal while moving which will give you a permanent top down view until you manually switch the camera back to a normal viewing angle.Comment by Nihilatos
This is a very cute, fun and unusual world quest ruined by poor controls and easy to fail mechanics. It's very easy to hit the snow piles on the track even by ever so slightly grazing past them. Coupled with a yeti chasing you, it could be just a fun little world quest but sadly Blizzard put it through their 'how to make it stupid' department and it's been ruined. It's still possible to do but expect many re-tries.Comment by Ringthane
This quest annoyed me so much I wanted to go play Far Cry 5 instead. That's how bad it is.Comment by Maravec
The bottom line: skip it.I wanted to love this quest. I adore penguins with an enthusiasm most people don't understand, and my guildies were excited for me to try this quest. Unfortunately, the camera angles are absolutely horrid. There is just no way to see what's in front of you. Even if you zoom into first-person perspective, clicking on the penguin reverts you to a wide-angle third-person perspective, with the camera low to the ground, and there's no way to adjust in time before the yeti catches up.

Wish I had read online how horrible this was before I started it. The person who made it lacks any skill or foresight in game development and should go design mobile games like Flappy Penguin or something. Leave the design to someone who actually knows what they're doing.Talk to the Pengling Sledding Barker (1) |
