SFL Mac OS

These files are now located in /Library/Application Support/com.apple.sharedfilelist/ directory. The file extension has also changed from ‘.plist’ to ‘.sfl’. However, they are still binary plists as shown in the screenshot below - note the file header ‘bplist00’. This is a list of file formats used by computers, organized by type. Filename extensions are usually noted in parentheses if they differ from the file format name or abbreviation. Many operating systems do not limit filenames to one extension shorter than 4 characters, as was common with some operating systems that supported the File Allocation Table (FAT) file system. Your tip is so wrong. These shortcuts work (both JKL and the arrows/spacebar) both on a Mac and on Youtube HTML5 videos, you might have to click on the video first for it to recognize the keystrokes are meant for it, but the point is they work.

The problem is not this does or does not work on the mac, it's focus. The video has to be the focus on the webpage for most keyboard shortcuts to work. Spacebar works on the mac, as do the arrow keys. In fact, youtube has a whole tab-controlled system to move around the controls hands-free in a video - just google 'youtube keyboard controls' for things like the 1-9 number keys insta-jumping to the 10%-90% point in the video.

Right. Focus is the 'key' here. BTW idontwanttoregis, the Kirk tip is not 'so wrong' (those shortcuts works on a Flash video on a Mac), it is just a bit 'incomplete'.

No, it's not incomplete, it's wrong. He categorically states 'These only work with Flash videos; if you load HTML5 videos on YouTube, these shortcuts don't work. It's worth noting that some websites mention that you can use arrow keys and the spacebar to perform the above actions, but these don't work on Macs.'. So, the tip summary needs to be updated. just drop those two lines, and replace them with 'Ensure the movie has focus by clicking.'

Click or not, it doesn't work for me with HTML5 videos. So what could be different between my Safari and your browser?

Even though it doesn't work for you, it is documented in several several places. Stating the spacebar and arrow keys don't work on youtube on mac is flat out wrong. Although one could be less acetic in tone when pointing it out, this hint, as written, is wrong. I even switched to the HTML5 viewer - same expected behaviour - click on video, it pauses. Now, spacebar and arrow keys work. Google acknowledges the HTML5 player has issues in full screen - space and arrow keys worked, extended control keys ( 1-9 to go to percent, 0 to beginning) do not work.
This is similar to iTunes, where I had to explain frequently that the spacebar would not pause and play if the focus in iTunes is changed. You can tab around the iTunes interface also, making spacebar something other than play/pause.
Perhaps it's something less-than-obvious, like full keyboard access in SP->Keyboard, but I'm not interested enough to troubleshoot myself in the foot.

These keyboard shortcuts also work for QuickTime 7 (which I use in preference to QuickTime 10, because of the separate control bar).
